Pumpkin farm

Happy fall! We went to the local Hischerhof farms. I was thinking it was going to be a pumpkin patch, but it was just pumpkins they picked for sale. It was a neat display though. They had a corn maze, hay stacks for the kids to play on and a place to pick flowers. A few weekends ago they had a festival, but Preston was sick so we missed it. Probably for the best because the place was empty when we went. The kids both picked out a pumpkin and are looking forward to carving it next week. As you can see little miss Cassidy is full in her 2's and has the attitude to go with it.

Heidelberg

I'm sure most people have heard of Heidelberg. It is a fairly big college town with a castle and a very picturesque old town that is on a river. We had great weather, a fun day and even took the new car on its first road trip. ( Will post a picture of the new car soon) The kids loved the castle......Preston asked if Dragons lived in it and Cassidy wanted to know where the Princess was.

Ramstein farmers market

Ramstein is just a few villages over from us and also near the big AF base. It is like 2 different worlds going from base to "german" livin'. They had a farmers market last weekend, selling tons of apples and pressing fresh apple juice. It was really good, but Preston told me he likes the kind I "make" at home better. We ate a Wildgame brats, drank apple juice, looked at all the animals (horses, cows, sheep, chickens and bunnies) and watched them press fresh juice.

New Bikes

Both the kids got new bikes after we moved in to our house. Cassidy got hers from G and G Brown and Preston picked his out with some bday money. Such a big boy riding with training wheels. We have a few other kids in the neighborhood for them to play with and living on a cul-de-sac is great.

Trier

Trier is about 50 mins from here. We went up for the day, it was cloudy and rainy all weekend, but the weather held off for a few hours. There is often claim this is the oldest city in Germany. There is still ruins from when the roman lived there. Including the Porta Nigra which is a large Roman city gate and a beautiful cathedral. There is more to see in the city which we didn't get to, but I'm sure we will be back.
