"The beer guy"

Everyone knows that Germany is known for it's beer....but Germans love to drink! You can get a beer or wine just about anywhere. German beer is very good. We have tried several brands and flavors and haven't had a "bad" one yet.

So we have "The beer guy" that deliveries to our house every 2 weeks. He brings with him a variety pack. And once a month we get a 3.5 liter jug of fresh brew. Last month was chestnut and this month hazelnut. We like getting the variety packs from him so we can try different brands from around the country. This past week he gave us the new xmas beers! Tis the season.

You can get beer at most markets they come in 20 .5 liter bottles. You pay a deposit on the bottles and rack. When it is empty you take it back and get a new one. So easy!
I think it is cheaper to drink beer here then it is buy bottled water in the states :)

Metz, France

So we took our first day trip over the border to France. We went to Metz it is the first biggest city over the border about 1.5 hours away. There isn't a whole lot of "tourist" stuff to do, but we wanted to go and see some French culture. They do have a beautiful cathedral, which is the tallest in France. It has very pretty and lots of stained glass all throughout the church. I read Metz also has a modern art museum, but that really isn't our thing...especially with the kids :)
We walked around the city and had lunch. We ended up ordering the 2 things on the menu that we could read. Pizza and panini! The pizza had an egg (over easy) on top. Preston thought it was the best thing and wants to have eggs on our pizza at home now.
We then stopped and had a Nutella crepe...very yummy.
On the drive back we stopped at the French version of super Walmart...Cora. A very neat store we will be going back. We picked up some things....baguette, cheeses, chocolate croissants, wine, fresh shrimp. and raspberry beer :)

Our new car

It's cute, red and looks small.....but surprising it has a lot of leg room. Our family fits quite well. The trunk is small, but we plan on getting roof racks and box for traveling. All the parking here is sooooo small especially in the garages, I'm glad we have it. Justin has been driving it back and forth to work, I've taken it for a spin a few times.......and as Justin says it is like driving a go cart (in a good way :)

Happy Halloween!

Everyone had a great time this year. We went to a few "parties". One at the library and then at Justin's work. At the hospital they had haunted hallways. Justin dressed up like a "scary monster" and scared people while the kids and I trick or treated around the hospital. On sunday we trick or treated around our neighborhood. From what I've been told the Germans have caught on to Halloween the past few years. Most of the kids that came to the house were german....I think they like getting american candy. There were very happy with the selection the neighbors and I gave out.
Thanks to grandma and grandpa we have a pretty princess and Batman!

Carving pumpkins

Preston was very particular this year on how he wanted his pumpkin carved. Triangle eyes and nose with teeth. Of course Cassidy wanted the same thing. Made it easy for Justin :)
I made roasted pumpkins seeds and Preston thought they were great!
